The 15th Annual Meeting of the Extenics (全國第15屆可拓學年會) was organized by Chinese Association for
Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) (中國人工智能學會), undertook by CAAI Extenics Professional
Committee (中國人工智能學會可拓學專業委員會) and Ningbo Institute of Technology,
Zhejiang University (NITZU) (浙江大學寧波理工學院) form 10 to 12 Aug 2016. The
previous day was the 1st Extenics Level 1 examination which aimed to
align all fundamental knowledge of Extenics Innovation Method for participants
who would become Extenics engineer or consultant in the future. Prof. Cai Wen (蔡文), Prof. Yang Chunyan (楊春燕) and Prof. Xingsen Li (李興森) were the examiners for this
certification. I took a photo of the
building.
We took
a group photo for memory. Four of
research students were under Prof. Yang Chunyan instruction for their research
thesis.
The
morning session, professors discussed our exam paper in group and point out our
weakness. Each candidate needed to test
their understanding on the basic knowledge of Extenics.
Then Prof.
Cai Wen (蔡文) told us
why they used the core values“拓、嚴、謙、信” (Extension, Severe, Modest & Integrity). They based on these values to develop the
Extenics from one person to many people, from one paper to many articles and
book.
In the afternoon,
Prof. Cai explained the concept of Conjugation Pairs (共軛之說).
Dr.
Aaron Tong joined us in this afternoon.
Conjugation
pairs were included:
i) “Nonmaterial part (虛部) vs Material part (實部)”
e.g. The
Empty Fort (諸葛亮的空城計)
ii) “Soft part (軟部) vs Hard part (硬部)”
e.g. Two
Chinese sayings: “one boy is a boy, two boys half a boy, and three boys no boy” (三個和尚沒水喝) and “Three heads are better than one” (三個臭皮匠,勝過一個諸葛亮。)
iii)“Negative part (負部) and Positive part (正部)”
e.g. UK
prisoner boat incident and then policy changed from “Off-shore number” to “Landed number” so as to solve the problem.
iv) “Latent part (潛部) and Apparent part (顯部)”
e.g. As
iceberg that we only observed the top one above water.
The
follow slide showed one of conjugation pair employed in new product development. It focused on Soft part of product. This example is the first creative method
which comes from customer need but not to be fulfilled. (從需要出發,無中生有). Then it employed Four Steps of Extensive
Innovation (可拓創新四步法). Firstly, wrote down the function
that was Model (建模), then Extension (拓展), and then Transformation (變換), finally, Selection (選擇).
Then Prof.
Yang Chunyan (楊春燕) presented “Incompatible Problems Solving Methodology and Application”
(不相容問題的解決方法及應用).
Firstly, Prof. Yang showed some contradiction problem examples those were not able to achieve the target under certain conditions. The first example was Cao Chong weighs an Elephant (曹沖稱象). She briefed the analysis based on Model the problem and developed the compatible function (相容度函數), and then extension using Implication and Divergence analysis. After that transformation and selection were implemented.
The
other example was that enterprise would build a factory but their capital was
not enough. The problem resource was
from hard part. This problem could
employ conjugation analysis.
After
today’s exam and sharing, we had a dinner in hotel which was inside the
university. Prof. Xingsen Li , Dr. Aaron
Tong and I took a photo before dinner.
Prof.
Xingsen Li gave a toast to all guests and started the dinner.
Lastly,
Aaron and I visited the university and I took a photo in the front door of Ningbo
Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University.
At the
end, we also visited the venue of the 15th Annual
Meeting of the Extenics.
