It was my honor that Dr. Daria Wong (Accreditation
Officer, HKAS) accompany with Dr. Thomas Facklam (Chairman of the European
Co-operation for Accreditation (EA); Head of Special Tasks of Deutsche
Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS), Germany) to visit Laboratories and three
key platform show cases of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks
Corporation (HKSTP) on 6th Dec 2017. This visit is sponsored by the
HKSAR through the Sponsored Visitor Programme (SVP) which intended to present
to renowned visitors around the world a full and balanced picture of Hong Kong
and hopefully promote Hong Kong economic and financial strengths. In the beginning, We took the group photo in
front of my office.

In the beginning, Mr. Kevin Edmunds (Sr. Manager,
Sustainability, HKSTP) presented the overview of HKSTP and then I presented the
Laboratories accreditation, certification and service to the guest.
I would like to introduce European Co-operation for Accreditation (EA) and Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) below.

EA is a network of national
accreditation bodies in Europe. The European Commission transferred important
tasks to EA in the scope of the Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008, which include the
harmonisation and on-going development of the accreditation system in Europe
and to guarantee the quality, transparency and independence of this system. EA
currently has 49 members in the European Union and its neighborhood.

DAkkS is the national accreditation body
for the Federal Republic of Germany and is the sole provider of accreditation
in Germany. It is a non-profit organisation that is entrusted by the federal
government to carry out its public authority accreditation tasks. As such,
DAkkS is subject to the government's technical, legal and financial supervisory
authority. DAkkS applies German administrative law as part of its public
authority accreditation activities.
The first place to visit was Reliability
Laboratory. Mr. TM Lau (Laboratory
Manager, TSC) briefed our service and technology in the reliability laboratory,
as well as, our 3D printing equipment.
Then we visited IC Failure Analysis Laboratory
(ICFAL) and we had HOKLAS accreditation for the test on measuring coating
thickness using scanning electron microscope.
After that we visited the Probe and Test Development
Centre and took a photo in front of cleanroom window.
Finally, we visited Biomedical Technology Support
Centre (BSC) and my colleague Mr. Anthony Chan introduced the DNA sequence
equipment.
Finished laboratories visit, we went to our three platform
show cases included Smart Living Showcase, Robotics Garage and Data Studio. In Robotics Garage, we explained the power
tools room for customer self-working.
The last location was Data Studio and we took a
group photo for the open data platforms.
At the end, we took a group photo in front of Golden
Egg.
