HKSQ Career Talk on Medical Device and Pharmaceutical Industry

HKSQ received an invitation by Youth Employment Resource Centre (Kwai Fong) “Youth Employment Start (Y.E.S.)” to give a career talk on Medical Device and Pharmaceutical industry. This talk was held in Y.E.S.(Kwai Fong) on 22 March 2014. “Youth Employment Start” (Y.E.S.) is one of Youth Employment Resource Centres established by Government and it aims to provide one-stop employment and self-employment support service to young people aged between 15 and 29. The career talk was summarized below.

In the beginning, I (Former Chairman, HKSQ) introduced the mission and service of Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ), as well as, the professional certification through HKSQ.

Ms. Minda Chiang (Hon. Secretary, HKSQ) was the first speaker and gave a talk named “Career Development in Pharmaceutical Industry”. She briefed different types of drugs and their manufacturing processes.

Then she explained the requirement of different positions in Pharmaceutical Industry included Lab technician, QC engineer, Pharmacist, etc. She shared her understanding for career development including “Commitment”, “Passion”, “Continuous Learning” and “Practices”. At the end, she shared the key success come from Skill, Abilities and Attitudes.

Mr. Ricky Suen (Co-op Member, HKSQ) was the second speaker and his topic was “Medical Device”. Firstly, he briefed the industry background and development. Then he also introduced the career requirement and job description.

He then mentioned some fundamental requirements for different posts in Medical Device Industry such as degree or diploma, ISO 9001 and ISO 13485, etc.) After that he also introduced some project management skills and validation processes.
